This interior design project embodies the philosophy of "harmonious duality," blending Japanese minimalism with Italian elegance to create a space that is both rational and luxurious. The design emphasizes the flexible use of partitions and windows, a key feature of traditional Japanese architecture. Custom reverse Yukimi Shoji screens, crafted from fireproof fabric, allow for modulating light and privacy. These sliding panels can open the upper part to frame views or close entirely for intimate spaces, reflecting the Japanese ethos of blending indoor and outdoor environments. Shoji-inspired windows further enhance this connection to nature, softly filtering light while maintaining privacy.
The tea room exemplifies the Wabi-Sabi philosophy, creating a serene, Zen-like atmosphere where materials like pinewood age naturally, embracing imperfection. Italian influences are seen in the use of Carrara marble and sophisticated lighting, grounding the design in modernity while paying homage to traditional craftsmanship. The thoughtful selection of materials—virus-resistant paint and Japanese diatomaceous earth for ceilings—ensures sustainability and air quality, making the space visually pleasing and health-conscious.
The integration of innovative technologies, such as ion air purification systems, eco-friendly water piping, and advanced bathroom solutions, enhances functionality and comfort. This design differentiates itself through its cultural layering and creative use of space. Sliding Shoji doors adjust light and privacy, while symbolizing fluidity between spaces. Meanwhile, Italian craftsmanship shines through the exquisite combination of woodwork and marble. The flexible concept adapts to evolving lifestyles, providing both beauty and practicality in equal measure.
