The design team took into account the homeowner's strong desire for a predominantly black-themed space. By adding layers to the black theme, the space feels open rather than confined, achieving a balance between minimalism and personal taste. Through the use of various materials and techniques, they introduced warm tones and infused creative ideas into the spatial details; this approach created a refined and understated ambiance reminiscent of a theater, full of unique elegance.
By departing from conventional design thinking, approached the planning of details with a unique perspective. For instance, display shelves were crafted without traditional cabinet doors, and these shelves were designed to be suspended. The cabinet hardware was concealed, with doors composed of a combination of carpentry and glass. This approach achieved slim profiles with a three-dimensional quality and utilized a layered structure to simplify cabinet lines, visually creating a sense of airiness. Furthermore, the cabinet heights were thoughtfully designed, requiring one to step back in order to fully appreciate the displayed items. This concept echoes the perspective of a “wandering outlook on life”, where distance is needed for holistic appreciation of the overall elements.
The overall space is adorned with deep blue Benjamin Moore paint, which is formaldehyde-free and offers a diverse range of saturated colors, catering to the homeowner’s visual preferences. Additionally, the space was paved with DEKTON stone, boasting high durability and stain resistance. Its texture enhances the exceptional character of the area. Paired with pure black Fenix HPL panels, the result exudes a luscious matte finish. This material has a warm and smooth texture, is fingerprint-resistant, and maintains its color integrity, adding layers to the overall color scheme and enhancing the aesthetic depth of the environment.
