Architecture is alive, and its rebirth lies not just in form, but in spirit.
‘Old House, New Life’ preserves the historical essence of original structure while incorporating a twist of modern flair. The design enhances comfort and boosts the building's sustainability. It balances rationality and emotion, creating functional, shared spaces that bring in organic, natural elements, offering a tranquil retreat from daily life.
This 53-year-old, 265-sqm, 3-story building is transformed into a 6-bedroom, 2-living room, 5-bathroom modern home. The use of MDF, cubic forms, and glass creates a natural, comfortable living space. The renovation reinforced the foundation, turning the aging structure into a neighborhood landmark.
Materials like wood veneer, melamine boards, premium tiles, laminate flooring, acoustic windows, and powder-coated metal were chosen for durability and design. Eco-friendly materials and paints support a healthy, sustainable environment.
The design centers on a ‘dialogue between past and present,’ preserving the original structure while introducing modern elements. Expansive glazing and open layouts fill the space with light, creating a bright, airy ambiance. ‘Design’s core is to solve problems,’ said the designer, who crafted a space that is both functional and personal for the ultimate living experience.
This standalone house blends a lush garden and landscaping, inviting natural light from all angles. The ground floor features an open-plan living area with a courtyard, kitchen, and dining. A semi-open, glasshouse-style garden patio seamlessly integrates with the covered, verdant courtyard, creating a vibrant space for family and friends to gather in a natural setting. On upper floors, the master bedroom and children's areas feature clean lines and simple tones, creating a cozy and flowing layout that suits each family member’s needs. Meanwhile, en-suite rooms for the adult children integrate light and practicality, ensuring discreet privacy.
