Just as light gives birth to shadow, shadow defines light. This interplay reveals that life is not simply a choice between good and bad but a balance between the two.

This 132-square-meter home, inspired by Japanese simplicity and natural materials, exudes a sense of calm and tranquility. With three bedrooms and two living areas, the layout prioritizes flexibility, allowing the space to adapt over time. Thoughtful choices in materials, colors, and forms maximize the potential of the limited space, meeting the needs of modern urban living.

Artistic paint covers the walls, creating a sensory journey of simplicity. Eco-friendly paints and natural materials, free from unnecessary embellishments, foster a sense of harmony. The design unites the visible and intangible, creating a cohesive experience. Structural reinforcements were made without altering the existing partitions, while the open connection between the living, dining, and study areas encourages family interaction and redefines the concept of “home.”

Upon entering, the floor-to-ceiling slat wood cabinetry stands as both functional and artistic, casting light in shifting patterns. The fluid layout invites exploration, with living spaces flowing into one another, offering new perspectives from every angle.

The dining area features a large-slab faux-paint tile wall, sleek and minimalist, concealing built-in storage for the homeowner’s belongings. A sintered stone dining table anchors the space, while a bespoke, full-height pantry cabinet adds vertical elegance, drawing the eye upwards and enhancing the sense of space.

The open study and playroom embody the ‘flexible space’ concept. Set apart from the children’s rooms, the playroom caters to the playful mind of both kids and grown-ups, fostering family bonding in a relaxed atmosphere. Every detail, functional or aesthetic, serves as a form of living art, seamlessly blending beauty and utility for a relaxed, harmonious living experience.
