This flat is located downtown with an interior area of 86㎡. The residents are a young couple living with two adorable puppies. This young couple has a wide range of interests and hobbies, such as saltwater fish and Lego. Besides that, they often have dinner parties at home, so they tend to allocate larger space to living room. Meanwhile, they require two bathrooms, one of which works as an ensuite bathroom with a bathtub.Since they defecate indoor occasionally, a pet toilet is indispensable. How to meet those requirements and ensure comfort within a limited space of 86㎡, was the major part of challenge during the whole design work. Firstly, on the whole picture, we swapped the living space with one of the bedrooms, and arranged the living and dining space near the window with better view, so as to make full use of the environmental advantages. In order to work out a more spacious living space within such limited area, we integrated the living and dining room into one open room, and set an arc-shaped wall to enlarge the dining area and dispel the sense of narrowness and monotony brought by a shallow depth of entry. In this way, the curved boundary and gradually enlarged spatial scale creates a sense of flow and a rich experience. Another major challenge was the need for two bathrooms. Limited by the risers, we found that the two bathroom areas would always form a layout with sharp corners facing each other. Therefore, we used an arc to break the sharpness and congestion. In conclusion, after comprehensive consideration involving functional requirements, external environment, interior transportation and spatial organization, the final plan is a matter of course. We firmly believe that interior design is not only about art, but also about life. Responding to users' lifestyle has always been the keynote of our works.
