The Jiahe New Village renovation project artfully combines historical architecture with contemporary design. Through a balance of respect and innovation, the project preserves the relationship between the historical buildings and their surrounding spaces. Rather than erasing textures that do not belong to listed heritage buildings, the architects redefined the value and function of these spaces. They proposed a comprehensive restoration plan for the entire area, characterized by its rich historical background and innovative design approach. The focus is on the careful restoration of four historically significant buildings and their surroundings, incorporating modern facilities to ensure safety and comfort while preserving original architectural elements such as window sills, tiles, and intricate woodwork.
Additionally, the project goes beyond mere preservation of the past by integrating elements like "ecological stepping stones" and "art exhibitions," fostering a harmonious coexistence of nature and culture. This design creates a shared living space for both humans and wildlife. The project’s multi-dimensional interventions have transformed Jiahe New Village into a landmark that offers both historical education and modern leisure, receiving widespread acclaim from visitors and injecting new vitality into local culture and eco-tourism.
