The project concerns Palladio School Kindergarten renovation (the entrance, 3 classrooms, multiple use area , STEM classroom, the Music-Theater educational classroom), at Athens, with a total area of 440 sq.m. and a 6 months total duration. The application of child-centered design aims to upgrade the kids educational environment to an ideological, aesthetic, functional and technological level, thus looking forward to strengthening the architecture anthropocentric character.
Based on this specific ideological architectural concept, always in relation to the kids developmental needs, (at the various stages of their development), this project aims to create spaces, whose interaction with the children, will successfully complement the pedagogy process in the preschool age, so that the space has continuous interaction with them, influencing their development and offering them a continuous opportunity for sensory/ kinetic/knowledge development.
The classroom, as a space, has significant psychological and educational effects, depending on the layout of its equipment, lighting (natural/artificial), shapes and colors. It is a interdependent factors set: material, pedagogical and psychosocial, with the ultimate goal of love for knowledge, learning and development.
In terms of functionality, the spatial organization, remained the same & renovation upgraded the learning environment, at the level of introducing new stimuli, artificial lighting, colors & equipment, combining the appropriate textures, sound-absorbing materials, the introduction of new equipment & accessories, plants, etc
