Renovating this 40-year-old flat strikes a balance between preserving the owner's emotional connection to the space and introducing modern living. The design blends personal memories with a refreshed, comfortable environment, honoring the space’s inherent warmth and familiarity.

The initial focus was on addressing issues with lighting, flow, layout, and structure. The compact 96-sqm interior was reimagined as a multifunctional work-life space, featuring three bedrooms, two living areas, and two bathrooms. The design combines wood tones, specialty paint, and a clean palette to evoke comfort, functionality, and elegance, subtly reflecting the owner’s personal style.

The feature wall incorporates a lowered console cabinet that draws attention to the statement piece and the wall's textural details. This openness creates a sense of spatial extension, avoiding overcrowding and maintaining visual calm. Large negative spaces throughout the living areas foster flexibility, allowing the layout to adapt over time to evolving needs and spontaneous changes. A full-height cabinet wall transforms the space beneath the main beam, doubling as both storage and display. Concealed shoe racks, cabinetry and open shelving merge utility with aesthetic appeal, enhancing the overall design while addressing practical needs.

Hidden doors and openings connect the public and private zones, ensuring smooth flow and natural light. The concise approach to materials, lines, and surfaces delivers a consistent, harmonious vibe across axes. Just as the craftsmanship of hand-plastered finishes adds warmth, the use of natural materials, low-VOC boards, and eco paints creates a healthy environment for the inhabitants’ wellbeing. Every detail contributes to an unadorned allure, where simplicity, form, and function coexist, creating a tranquil daily experience and cozy lifestyle.
