Instead of conventional classrooms, fluid zones are created through sliding partitions, encouraging children to move, observe, and self-direct. The concept of “cheese” serves as both metaphor and material language: playful, geometric, porous—manifested in round windows, softened corners, and layered circulation that sparks imagination.
Due to fire code limitations for temporary structures in Taiwan, operable windows were restricted on facades. The design responded with fixed circular openings—half-moons and portholes—that became visual signatures, not compromises. Pre-existing skylights were preserved, creating a dialogue between old and new, while light, texture, and acoustic wood-wool panels shape the sensory experience.
Materials were carefully selected for both performance and emotion. Antibacterial PVC flooring ensures safety and comfort, while visible wiring and exposed systems introduce transparency and visual learning. The space meets triple compliance—health, safety, and education—without feeling institutional.
For educators, it’s a stage for diverse teaching modes. For children, it’s a place of trust, discovery, and delight. For clients, it’s an identity-defining space that balances adaptability, code compliance, and cost efficiency. Ultimately, Hello Cheese transforms temporary architecture into something enduring—where imagination is not interrupted, but invited.
