This project entails the comprehensive renovation of a 99 m² apartment that has been in existence for approximately 40 years. The layout has been meticulously reorganized to enhance the synergy among the living room, dining area, and kitchen, resulting in an open-plan design that facilitates unobstructed light flow and sightlines. This approach promotes spatial transparency and fosters daily interactions among occupants. The flooring in the public areas is adorned with 120 × 60 cm tiles imported from Italy, providing a clean and sophisticated foundation for the interior. The walls are extensively finished with paulownia wood veneer, complemented by painted finishes. This design strategy allows the cabinetry, spatial volumes, and architectural language to coalesce into a unified aesthetic. Furthermore, floor-to-ceiling windows and windows in the bedrooms that face the exterior are framed using Japanese wood-grain aluminum systems, delivering both durability and a refined tactile quality. Additionally, custom security grilles fabricated from metal and hinoki wood are installed on the rear balcony.
The residence features furniture that has been custom-designed and constructed from solid wood, which emphasizes the warmth of natural grain while reflecting principles of sustainability and durability. The dining table consists of a stone countertop paired with solid teak, expertly joined through traditional mortise-and-tenon craftsmanship. The walls of the dining area and the flooring of the balcony are finished with small-format tiles handmade in Spain, enhanced by the strategic placement of decorative tiles that evoke a sense of everyday memory and character. Upon entering the bedroom, one will notice that the material palette transitions to wood-grain tiles and imported wallpaper, shifting the atmosphere from open and grounded to soft and tranquil. The guest room is equipped with a custom twin-over-twin modular bed system, designed to accommodate various needs.
