Situated in the wooded hills of Xindian, Whispering Woods Residence is a detached villa that redefines hillside living by uniting privacy, luxury, and material sensitivity. Responding to the region’s humid climate, the design employs anti-moisture ceilings, breathable coatings, and a fresh-air ventilation system to ensure a healthy, “breathing” environment throughout the year.
The residence unfolds across five levels. The basement hosts a private cinema, guest suite, and bar island for leisure. The ground floor anchors daily life with dual vestibules, a feature wall, and an open-plan living–dining–kitchen extending to terraces. A sculptural TV wall with a faux fireplace integrates storage with atmosphere, while expansive glazing frames the mountain panorama and admits generous daylight.
The second-floor master suite combines a study, walk-in closet, and boutique display cabinets, while the third floor houses a boy’s and a girl’s room. Flexible partitions and custom furniture balance privacy with visual permeability, allowing spaces to feel defined yet connected. The roof level concludes the vertical journey with a gym and entertainment lounge that extend into terraces, linking wellness with recreation.
Materiality defines the project: natural stone conveys permanence, glass expands transparency, and warm wood softens proportion, while anti-moisture finishes strengthen resilience. Metal trims serve as subtle highlights—precise strokes that add refinement without excess. Light is orchestrated in layers: natural daylight washes across surfaces, complemented by concealed and ambient lighting, creating shifting moods from dawn to evening.
