Between Heritage and Horizon reinterprets a three-generation residence as a dialogue between memory and renewal. Built on the site of the family’s ancestral home, it embodies emotional continuity through design restraint, empathy, and light. The concept centers on four principles—openness, softness, safety, and interaction—transforming daily observation into spatial warmth.
The entrance begins the narrative with retro Taiwanese tiles patterned like ocean waves, symbolizing vitality and prosperity. A floral hollow-brick partition filters light and sightlines, recalling vernacular craftsmanship while softening the boundary between public and private zones. At the heart of the home stands a 90x320 cm Italian titanium stone table—durable, tactile, and elegant—serving as a shared platform for study, reading, and conversation across generations. Surrounding finishes of SPC flooring, mineral-textured walls, and muted hues provide a calm, natural balance.
Safety and adaptability accommodate both children and elders. Fire-rated partitions, anti-slip surfaces, and noise-reducing layers ensure comfort, while sliding aluminum-framed glass doors create flexible zoning that opens for gatherings or closes for privacy. Anti-pollution mesh screens bring in fresh mountain air from nearby hills, linking interior and nature.
Light and curves define the home’s identity. Arched ceilings and cove lighting dissolve rigidity, allowing structure to flow with softness. Taiwanese walnut lamps introduce crafted warmth, while Italian-designed fixtures illuminate the night with layered comfort. Sustainability is expressed through low-formaldehyde materials, natural ventilation, and the act of rebuilding itself—a quiet gesture of ecological continuity.
More than an architectural form, Between Heritage and Horizon is a home of empathy and presence. Each texture, reflection, and breeze tells of care, offering an enduring rhythm between past and future, where design is not only seen but deeply felt.
