The core concept of PwC’s Gurukul Learning Centre is the reinterpretation of the ancient Indian Gurukul system into a contemporary corporate learning environment. Designed and built by Vestian for PwC in Hyderabad, the project transforms the philosophy of holistic learning, mentorship, and community into a meaningful spatial experience. Rather than a conventional training facility, the centre functions as an immersive learning ecosystem that supports intellectual growth, collaboration, and well-being.
Inspired by India’s traditional learning environments, where education occurred in open, nature-connected settings under the guidance of a guru, the design blends cultural symbolism with modern workplace efficiency. The amphitheatre forms the heart of the centre, anchored by a symbolic banyan tree representing wisdom, continuity, and collective learning. Stepped seating, informal coffee points, and swings encourage interaction and knowledge sharing.
Cultural authenticity is expressed through architectural elements such as parametric arches, antique doors and windows, rangoli patterns, and handcrafted bamboo and rattan lighting, while contemporary planning ensures functionality. The reception experience—defined by a brass sun installation, lotus pond, and water features—creates a calm, reflective arrival.
Sustainability is integral to the design, with IGBC Green Building compliance and the use of locally sourced materials such as Dholiya stone. Flexible training rooms, adaptable townhall spaces, and wellness areas reflect a future-ready, user-centric approach. Completed in just 128 days, the project’s strength lies in its seamless fusion of tradition, sustainability, and modern design execution.
